Solarpunk, Artificial Intelligence and the EU

THE MANIFESTO

Digital progress cannot cost the future of the planet.

We reject giant, energy-consuming datacenters. We envision a technology that breathes, runs on sun and wind, and respects natural limits.

We are transitioning from inaccessible, centralized LLMs to Small Language Models (SLMs).

Computing intelligence must be compact, energy-efficient, open, and locally accessible on every device—guaranteeing absolute privacy without reliance on foreign servers.

We defend a Europe that does not just consume technology, but creates it based on democratic values, privacy, and open-source.

We advocate for regulatory frameworks that protect citizens and empower open communities against oligopolies.

We bridge technology with the soil through agrivoltaics, urban permaculture, and open-source seeds.

We deploy lightweight edge-AI tools directly into the field to empower small-scale growers without trapping them in agrochemical patents.

We resist planned obsolescence and the accumulation of electronic waste (e-waste).

We demand a universal Right to Repair for every device. We revive legacy hardware as local nodes and invest in modular devices and open architectures like RISC-V.

We resist dystopia.

The future is not dark; it is green, decentralized, and full of collaborating communities. Technology and nature can and must coexist in harmony.

This is our Babylon. An open, green, digital agora for the Europe of tomorrow.
